Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills are crucial for connecting the dots in your child’s development.

They involve the use of small muscles in the hands, fingers and wrists, to complete tasks or activities. Fine motor skills are important in developing and supporting other areas of development such as independence with self-care and dressing.

Activities to promote fine motor skills

  1. Finding objects in resistive materials such as putty, play dough, or sand

  2. Mr. Muncher (see our blog and Instagram post to learn how to make and use this activity)

  3. Buttoning and unbuttoning
