The Dot Level System

At Connecting the Dots, we recognize that each child develops at their own pace, with their own set of strengths and challenges. Our goal is not to fit your child into a predetermined mold, but to offer them the right level of challenge to foster growth and development.

To achieve this, we use a Dot Level System to grade the skill level for each activity. Here’s a quick rundown of how it works:

What is the Dot Level System?

Dot Levels are designed to match activities to your child's current abilities and needs. Think of it as a way to measure how well an activity aligns with your child’s development, not as a rigid classification. This helps us ensure that every activity offers the perfect amount of challenge for your child—neither too easy nor too difficult.

The Levels:

  • Dot 1: This level is for beginners or those who are just starting to explore a new skill. It introduces basic concepts and provides foundational practice.

  • Dot 2: This intermediate level builds on the basics, offering more complexity and requiring a bit more skill. It’s designed to push your child just enough to stretch their abilities.

  • Dot 3: This advanced level is for children who have a good grasp of the skills and are ready for more challenging tasks. It encourages further growth and refinement.

Why Use the Dot System?

The Dot Level System helps us provide what we call the “just right challenge”—an activity that is challenging enough to promote development but not so difficult that it causes frustration. This approach considers several factors that can affect a child's level, including amount of sleep, anxiety, or exposure.

By using this system, we aim to meet each child where they are and guide them through activities that best support their growth and development.

Feel free to reach out with any questions about how our Dot Level System works or how we tailor our approach to your child’s needs. We're here to ensure that every step of your child’s developmental journey is both engaging and appropriately challenging!
